I received this book yesterday and it had stiff pages and appeared to have water damaged along the long edge of the book.  I sent a PM requesting my credit back.

Please take a look at the pictures below and tell me if you think the wrinkles could have been caused by a bookholder.

Definitely looks like water damage.  All through the book!  It should feel like the pages have thickened up and they are stiff and a little tough.  I'm so sorry that this happened to you - be sure to PM them with a link to the picture, maybe a link to the help documents about water damage not being postable, and a request to PM you back within a week.  It helps if you do this through the PM part of the PBS survey you fill out when you receive a book.

It looks like that book got soaked somewhere along the line (bathtub reading maybe? LOL) and then allowed to dry out.   I sure hope you get your credit back Mary!
