Got a request for a book - the request had no RCs at all.  The requestor marks it RWAP as Damaged by Sender and asks for her credit back.  This was her comment:

"the book was dirty and not what I expected" T

The book was ex-library and had a small sticker on the front cover and a small sticker on the spine, otherwise is was in excellent condition - certainly not dirty or even close.

So I messaged this person to ask how in the world the book was dirty  I also pointed out that her ordering a book that wasn't exactly her cup of tea is not my fault.  Her reponse was it was 'dirty' because she can't get those stickers off of the book....  She then wrote that she wasn't saying the book not being what she wanted was my fault.....  Well, when it's posted under the reason for a book being marked as RWAP and DBS, then YES, she was saying that exactly.

Ugh. These kinds of people drive me nuts.

Well sure it is dirty now, with all the gunk from the stickers exposed. STOP PICKING AT IT! (Geesh, now I sound like my mother)

I would just tell her that it meets the posting requirements and if she doesn't want ex-library books than she needs to set up an RC stating that.

I would not give her the credit back. Tell her if she wants the gunk off from the library stickers to use Goo Gone. And yes--if she's going to be like that, she needs to use RCs.

"I'm sorry you weren't personally happy with the book you received, however, it clearly met all posting requirements from PBS. As such, I will not be returning your credit. FYI, if you so not wish to receive ex-library books, I'd recommend you set up a Requester Condition noting this. "

mistie I liked your response.  Okay if I borrow that for future problems?

I didn't give the credit back.  She had told me she didn't 'feel' books with any stickers should be allowed on PBS.  I told her she could set up RCs specifying whatever she 'feels' book should be to her own personal taste.

PBS has minimum swappability guidelines (in addition to RC's).  What the requester 'feels' should be the rules...doesn't apply.  She can take that up with TPTB, in the meantime your book was postable.  Probably not what I would say, but it's the reasoning behind politely declining to return credit.

My sister had an RWAP for much the same reasons. The receiver said the book cover did not match the one posted and she was not notified that it was an ex-library book. My sister was upset at having an RWAP; and that member has still not marked the problem resolved. A member since '09 should know about RC's and ex-library books.

Feel free - I'm flattered :-)

When I initally posted, I tried to find a way to ask the receiver to mark the transaction resolved - but couldn't find a way to word it without it seeming to invite a snarky response. I decided personally I would just let that part go - since a couple of unresolved transactions are going to "hurt" my account. I would prefer to send what I wrote, then not correspond past that.
