You know how some books have a stretchy band thing that you can pull up from the back and put it over the front cover to help keep the book closed? Well, if that is stretched out (to where you can't use it and it's just dangling from the book) should I mark it RWAP? Or would that be like a HC not have its DJ? There is also some sort of mark/stain inside on one of the pages. I'm not sure if this is something that was put there or if it was a problem with printing and the book was sold this way. It's not obstructing any text.

I hate to mark another book RWAP and not sure if this one qualifies or not but I have been getting unpostables and 'borderline' books lately that I refuse to repost. So... what do you think?

Of course stains of any kind aren't allowed.  But I'd look closely and if I thought it was a problem with the printing I certainly would NOT make it RWAP.   The rubber band thingy - nope I wouldn't consider that a RWAP either.

Okay cool. I'm really debating on this "stain" thing. Maybe I should take a picture and post that.

I wouldn't mark it RWP. The band isn't required. If there was one stray mark that I couldn't easily determine was a stain (I consider a stain something that looks soaked in or crusted on, not just a stray mark) I would not ding the sender for it.  That is just an opinion without ever seeing the book in question of course.

Okay, thanks. I just want to make sure that I won't get dinged if I repost it, ya know?

Oh! So I can cut the stretchy thing off? It just hangs there and will just be in my way.

I have never seen a book come with the band that you are talking about.  I've seen journals and calendars but not books...weird!

Leslie,

It's a decorating book. I also have a couple of wedding books (and like you said, journals too) that have this.

I've had a number of books recently that had printing "stains"--I don't really know what to call them. They aren't a stain from the person who sent me the book but rather some random marks from ink from the printing process. I don't consider them stains in the traditional sense and they certainly aren't the fault of the sender. I've also had books recently where the printing on one page or a few pages is much lighter than at other places. Once again, not a fault of the sender.

I decided NOT to mark it RWAP but I'm still not sure if I'll want to repost it.
