I received a book and am not sure if it’s a RWAP.
The book has been well read, there are several cover creases, turned down pages and the cover is ripped about 1 inch along the bottom spine edge.
The book was covered in the 2 PBS pages, the inner page was taped to the book itself which is not recommended by PBS. The packaging was very ripped when it was delivered.
It is not a book I would be comfortable re posting.

Looking for some comments and suggestions before I contact the sender or mark it received.

What you have described so far is postable.  Tears of 1" or less on a cover is allowed.  Creases are allowed.  Turned down pages are allowed.  Tape attached to the book isn't allowed but if it didn't cause any damage it's okay.  It's worn and if all the pages are intact and attached, then when you finish it will still be postable although it will be near its end of postability.

I agree that the book is postable as described.  I received The Hound and the Falcon in similar shape and while a bit disappointed, I was thrilled to get to read the book. I won't be relisting it as I don't feel comfortable posting books in that condition, but that is just a personal thing.

That's one of those borderline books that has probably reached the end of it's postability with you.  Everybook eventually gets to it's last person as a postable book and sometimes that person is you (or me).  Those books where they are just over the edge of postability but one more read is probably going to push them off the cliff.

If the cover meets these requirements, I wouldn't mark it RWAP:

From the PBS Help Center:

Cover not torn or chewed/gnawed

  • some used book stores cut out a small part of the cover; if the amount missing is less than 1 square inch, this is OKAY
  • a small rip (less than 1 inch) in the cover is OKAY
  • yes, that does say "chewed/gnawed" above.  That means no pet-chewed (or human-chewed) books.

I wouldn't repost it, though.

Agreed - I'd mark it as received okay, and not repost it. You were the end of the line for that book.

OK - thanks everyone for your input.

Should I PM the sender about taping directly to the book ?

I'd say it depends on if you want to educate her or not Judith.   A nice reminder PM might protect to next person.  IF you send one just be prepared because there is no way of knowing what her reaction will be.    Yes, for me personally, I'd remind her.

If you want to let her know - try using something like "I just wanted to give you a "head's up" on taping the wrapper to the book..."

That makes it a little less critical...especially if she is new.
