The Rag Bizness Author:Mischa Perlmutter Undoubtedly, the thought has occurred to many who are engaged in the needle industry and its allied lines, that some one should write a book covering the various phases of this great business, a book that seeks to depict the unique and extraordinary experiences that can happen only in the topsy-turvey world of the manufacturer of women's ready-t... more »o-wear.
The book for which many of you have been clamoring, has now become reality. This volume has a two-fold purpose. It is not intended to dramatize the life of any individual, not does it seek to tell a success story. However, it does dramatize an industry, and present the exhaustive and analytical examination of the many mistakes commonly made by manufacturers. It is to be hoped that failure, disillusionment and tragedy may be averted in the future by those who read and study its pages.
The author realizes the difficulty of approaching a manufacturer who is enjoying war time prosperity, with criticism of his method of operation. It is exceedingly distasteful to be reminded of one's shortcomings when he feels the comfort of success embracing him, and when he has a check book at his elbow from which he finds it possible to issue non-bouncing checks.

It is the sincere hope of the author that the reader will heed the practical considerations herein discussed, rather than subject himself to false, illusory forms of self-satisfaction.« less
