This book is truly amazing! It is a book I would stay up until 2AM reading because it was excellently written as well as sharing a phenomenal story about determination, survival and love. The story unfolding is a story of awe and miraculous events, I have read it again and again, every time finding a new inspiration in the Villasenor family.

Excellent book. Story based on the life of the author's parents, grandparents, set in Mexico and America in the 1800's to the early 1900's. Helps you see how the Mexicans struggled against their own countrymen to flee a violent Mexico, and their struggles to survive and succeed in a sometimes hostile America.

A wonderful, engrossing, well-written novel set in the Southwest and Mexico. The story of an immigrant family. A great read for anyone who wants to understand more about the Mexican-American experience.
