This may sound melodramatic but I don't usually read these kinds of romances, so to say that it touched me very deeply says a lot about the book. This book made me take a look at my life and the things that we see as "coincidence" and realize that God works all things together for our good. It was well-written and hard to put down. I plan to look up this author and read everything she's ever written!

After losing his wife, he wandered. Cross country in search - but in search of what? He wasn't finding it ! Then the storm hit and he was stranded - in a most perfect place.

I will admit I was hesitant to read this book when I got it. I must have started it 5 times thinking it would be a depressing book about a lady who had been severely scarred. I was determined to read it in ints entirety just to say I had read it. I was pleasantly suprised to find that this book was a wonderfully inspiring story. I am very fond of spiritual inspiring romances and this was not disappointing at all.

This book provided a pleasent surprise for me.

I expected a book full of stereotypical romance characters, a weak female character (or at least weak when it came to men), a formulaic story, and poor writing.

First, the story was well written, full of nice imagery that drew you into the scenes and the feelings, emotions, and motivations of the characters. The narrative drew me with the first sentence. The somewhat complex story was face-paced and well developed and didn't loose my interest. It provided an excellent, although slightly predictable, conclusion.

While some of the story may have followed a formula (you knew, for instance, that the male and female protagonist were going to fall in love. There is never any mystery in that department in typical romance fiction, Christian or secular.), but the characters were fresh and real and believable. The woman even had ugly burn scars on her face. Wow! How many romance novels do you read in which both main characters are NOT unrealistically beautiful? Romance (ordinarily) don't do ugly!

She lives alone like a hermit on one of the San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington State to escape the memories of a house fire that killed her husband and child and left her disfigured. She has self-sufficient and has adapeted will to lonely plight.

But then A man, an ex-minister, who is trying to escape his own past full of false accusations and his wife's death, turns up on her doorstep ia the middle of a fierce rainstorm asking for shelter.

Later, he agrees to stay on, living in her guest shed and helping out with anything that needs doing.

But, someone else has interupted her solitude. She is aware from the beginning of the frightened, ragged little boy is observing her from hidden spots. Who is he? Does he need help? What can she do for him?

Altogether, although there are a few minor flaws, and some of the story was a bit formulaic, I thought that this book provided a great story of renewed hope, renewed lives, forgiveness, and inward healing. It was a good, warm, human story. I would like to read more books by this author and I would recommend the book to others.

Keith Michaels, a widower, heads cross-country hoping to flee his sadness and grief after his wife's death. During a sudden storm he finds refuge and shelter from the storm with a reclusive young woman. Little does he know that, in addition to refuge from the storm, she provides a safe refuge for his heart!

Good, heartwarming love story!

Truly inspiring--a testimony that everyone doesn't have to be beautiful to have someone fall in love with them.

Character driven stories are not my favorite, but this one totally engages and pulls me in. I feel as if I, too, am a part of the story. The blurbs do not give the story line justice. Jill and Keith's lives are full and complex and Real. The writing is the type that makes you think about the story between readings and after the book has ended. Beautiful!

I have to say this wasn't one I enjoyed. It was just too touchy - feely for my tastes.

This is the first story I have read by Irene Hannon. Now she is one of my favorite authors.

A sweet inspirational, quick read that leaves you wanting more. Although this genre is not my usual reading preference, this book has caused me to search for others by Ms Hannon. After a
Devastating fire, the heroine here is left with disfiguring facial scars. These scars changed her life and her feelings about herself. After meeting a stranger who has the ability to look beyond her scars, she receives healing in her self esteem. I read this book in one sitting. Unable to walk away.

To lessen the pain of his wife's death, Keith Michaels headed cross- country. Yet though he had reached the Pacific Northwest, he still felt broken, empty, and alone. When a sudden storm stranded him on Orcas Island, he sought refuge with the local widow, who was no elderly matron but a reclusive young woman. What was it about shy Jill Whelan and her charming cottage that made Keith want to stop his wandering ways? Did faith and love await him at Rainbow's End?
