Contriversal account of the sinking of the Titanic. Was a pretty good book.

Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt series are great reads. The interaction of the characters are fascinating and the subjects he brings out help the reader also learn a little history with a literary license of course. The background of the story usually centers around something you have heard of and expounds with a make believe story.

"A great adventure thriller...RAISE THE TITANIC! Starts fast, spins from one dizzying climax to another, holds its innermost secrets until the very end, and keeps you so auaciously entertained you won't want it to come to a close...simply super."

This is just one of a series written by Clive Cussler and I have always found them to be very intertaining and have read the entire series. Always hoping for another to be added to the series.

OK - to start with I must confess I've read ALL Clive Cussler's books, both
fiction and non-fiction and have enjoyed every single one.

That having been said - I did adore this book and will read it again at
some future time for certain.

Mr. Cussler has a wonderful way with words and the way he tells his stories
shows an incredible good-humouredness for living.

His heroes are GOOD and his villains are all BAD, and whether or not it is
like real life he ends his stories with a world that is a better place for
the actions and the existence of the good characters he's created.

Would you or I or most people even survive the kinds of Pitt-falls his hero
just takes in stride ? Probably not. Does that matter to me as a reader ?
Not in the least.

I can only wish that maybe there are some real people who are 1/2 as well
endowed with consciences, vigor and determination like his characters all
show so well - they'd make good examples for people to learn from.

In conclusion I will stop short of saying Mr. Cussler can do no wrong in
this reader's opinion, but I WILL say that as long as he'll write 'em,
I'll get 'em and read every one !

This was the first Cussler book I'd ever read. With out a doubt, it is my all time favorite of his (although some of the events are very "out there".

Touted as Dirk Pitt's greatest adventure, this tale is well written and concerns raising the Titanic.

Classic Dirk Pitt!! Superman in a scuba suit (no wait that was aquaman)... but Dirk would even give Aquaman a run for his money.
It's always fun to "escape" with this "human" super hero!!

The President's secret task force develops the ultimate defensive weapon. At its core: byzanium, a radioactive element so rare sufficent quantities have never been found. But a frozen American corpse on a disolate Soviet mountainside, a bizarre mining accident in Colorado, and a madman's dying message lead Dirk Pitt to a secret cache of byzanium. Now he begins his most thrilling, daunting mission... to raise from its watery grave the shipwreck of the century! The Titanic! Book is in Great condition. Spine not even broken. Not from a smoke free enviroment however books are kept in a closet on shelves they do not smell of smoke according to a non-smoker that I have asked.
