Great idea. Fast paced, but I felt like I was watching an episode of 24. Was paying attention but was way too over my head.

This is a pretty decent thriller with some sci-fi aspects, and the plot throws some curve-balls. The suspense kept me turning pages, but some of the plot twists were a little far-fetched!

I usually love any kind of story related to Atlantis and/or Antartica. This had all the promise of a really good adventure. But, and its a big "but", if the characters are unlikable and unbearable, how can one enjoy the rest of the story? Who do you root for? I'm going to assume the author wanted to make the characters with real human failures but it was slightly exaggerated to the point where I honestly didn't care who lived or died. Not a keeper for me.

I enjoyed this book. However, the underlying plot could have been developed more. I look forward to future books in this series.

this book was enjoyed by my husband, son and myself, very suspenseful and exciting. A little scary when you start thinking about it.

What an exciting book! Who doesn't love an Atlantis adventure? This one was certainly thrilling, with truly nonstop action. In fact, it would hav been nice to have actually had a little less action and more explanation. I would be more upset about this if I didn't have the next two books waiting on my shelf to be read. I really did enjoy this and I am looking forward to reading the sequels. Still, I think the best Atlantis book that I have read is Stel Pavlou's _Decipher_.

Not a bad first novel. I learned it was an E-Book first. Characters are a little one dimensional, but the story is still exciting.

a little long, but that could have been because I was getting sleepy since I started it at bed time and the book kept me riveted until I finished it.
If you are not willing to suspend what you know about science and history for the sake of the story, then pass on this book. If you are willing to enter the character's world (as I was) and look at science from their point of view, then the suspense works and builds.

"RAISING ATLANTIS is a wonderfully honed cliff-hanger--an outrageous adventure with a wild dose of the supernatural. A thrill ride from start to finish."

THE CHARACTERS WERE NOT VERY WELL DEVELOPED, BUT THE STORY LINE IS SO SHORT THAT THERE WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN TIME. ALL IN ALL AN OKAY QUICK READ FOR A WEEKEND

In Antarctica; a glacial earthquake swallows up a team of scientists...and exposes a mysterious monument older than the earth itself.

In Peru; archaeologist Dr. Conrad Yeats is apprehended by US Special Forces...to unlock the final key to the origins of the human race.

In Rome; the pope summons environmental activist Sr. Serena Serghetti to the Vatican...and reveals a terrifying vision of apocalyptic disaster.

In space; a weather satelite reveals four massive storms forming around the South Pole...and three US Spy satellites disappear from orbit.

These are the end of times, when the legends of a lost civilization and the prophecies of the world's great religions lead a man and a woman to a shattering discovery that will change the fate of humankind. This is the ultimate voyage, a journey to the center of time, as awe-inspiring as the dawn of man - and as inevitable as doomsday. This is Raising Atlantis...

Interesting book. Reads like it was written to be a movie. Easy to read and can be finished fairly rapidly if you read a lot.

The premise is intriguing and there is a lot of action. However, the writing is a bit shaky and the characters seem to say and do things strictly to move the action along, regardless of whether they stay "in character"

Several scientifically improbable events, but other than that, it was a fun read with lots of excitement.

OK but not great.

The story is ridiculous and scientifically implausible, especially with respect to the Antarctica setting and what might have happened 12,000 years ago. However, there is something in the book that kept me reading anyway to find out what happened.
