His Outrageous Mistress...
Daughter of a Parisian courtesan, Sylvia Boisette longs for respectability, though gossips says she is nothing more than a gentleman's paramour. Now, with her guardian dead, she finds herself in a shocking situation....
Christopher Evernden is appalled by his uncle's will--Mademoiselle Boisette is now his courtesan! Although his body responds to Sylvia's tempting sensuality, he knows he should rid himself of his disreputable charge. But, Surprisingly, Sylvia has a vulnerablity to match her exceptional beauty. Perhaps his inherited mistress could become his rightful bride.

My thoughts:
Sounds like a simple enough story right? NOT! Sylvia is not what Christopher thinks. She was his Uncle's ward. Nothing more. But there is so much more to the story than just Christopher realizing that she is an innocent. There are attempted kidnappings, and a successful kidnapping, a much beloved mother who *had* to be a courtesan, a scorned irish tenant, a duke, revenge, and a wonderful love story all wrapped into 1 book that is 275 pages long.
I have to say that when I am in the mood for a short read, the Harlequin books seem to be the right length. This one does not disappoint. Christopher has always done the right thing. He is bound by his own honor. Sylvia just wants to be loved, should she take the risk? The interaction between these two characters is very delightful to read. You journey with them along this crooked road that has so many twists and turns that you wonder if they will ever find happiness. But because this is a romance novel you know that they do. But getting there is half the fun.
