Lurking in a dark doorway on a quiet Manhattan side street is an anonymous man with only one thought on his mind - the perfect murder.
And thus begins a chain of brutal, inexplicable crimes against the citizens of New York. Month after month, the apparently random murders continue until, in desperation, the police turn to their last hope - brilliant criminologist Noah Aikman.
Working with his daughter Alexa, Aikman unearths one common clue: Each victim was found missing one piece of identification. But what was the motive? And where would the killer strike next?
