Great book - my company has actually taken this book as the company's philosiphy. We have raving fan awards and this has quickly become the business "bible" for our organization of 7000 employees! I highly recommend.
I read this authors "One Minute Manager" almost 20 years ago and embraced it... Found my current companies Executive Management to share this common-sense philosophy for success. Very motivational, inspiring and no-nonsense.
Customer service is a completely different world now than it was in the 80s, actually, it's a completely different world about every six months. It's difficult to find a book that can truly teach you something new, something relevant, and something useful even now. This book stays in my permanent collection, I've read through it more than once and referred to it several times, and it has given me several good ideas that I use daily. This is one of the only true useful business books out there. It's an easy read, but powerfully correct. I recommend this book to anyone interested in business.
Raving Fans: A Revolutionary Approach to Customer Service by Ken Blanchard and Sheldon Bowles uses a parable to present a logical business approach to customer service, from the goals of the organization, customer interactions, and a tie in of compensation and rewards. Diverse examples are used to illustrate the different parts of the process. The book presents cohesive and valuable lessons despite a somewhat cutesy and stylized writing approach.
