I've read all of the above series as well as Charlaine Harris's and the Betsy the vampire series. Any suggestions on who may be similar to the above?   I like it a little "hot" but not overwhelming!  I think my favorite series would have to be Kelly Armstrongs Otherworld.

I have Yasmine Galenorns Changeling books and the first in a couple of other series including Keri Arthur and Patricia Briggs.

Who would you pick next?  Or should I just pick from a hat??  LOL

Thanks all!

Becky

I've read all three of the series you are considering next....and I thought they were all good...but different.  I love Kelley Armstrong too...and I'm usually not in to the romancy, overly sex books either.  So here are my opinions...I guess it would depend on your mood which books you choose to read next.  But I definately prefer the Mercy and Riley series over the Changling series...

Changeling books are just a fun light read, not overly deep, not difficult to follow or overly sexed...while there is sex in the books.

Mercy Series....I dont want to give too much away but it certainly is NOT a sex book.  Good plot, enchanging chararcters, liked it a lot.  One of my favs

Riley Jensen series...LOTS of sex ...but for whatever reason didn't turn me off....I think b/c she made it seem like an important part of  the character and for what ever reason it seem "natural" to Riley for lack of a better term.  I actually  like these books a lot too.

Not sure if this helps but you can't go wrong with any of them!

I loved the Patricia Brigg's Mercy Thompson series, I think umm. blood bound and moon called are out and the next comes out in January.

They remind me of Laurell K. Hamiltons earlier Anita Blake novels, where it was sexual tension and not just sex.  Great plots with little twists and fun characters. Good reads!

Have you tried Alexis Morgan's Paladins series? It's a little different:

  • 01 - Dark Protector
  • 02 - Dark Defender
  • 03 - In Darkness Reborn
  • 04 - Redeemed in Darkness

It's considered paranormal, but it's also almost sci-fi.  (But no space travel or planets.) Basically the Paladins are a special group of humans who guard the barrier between our world and another. When the barrier between the dimensions weakens, crazed inhabitants of the other world come across and wreak havoc. The Paladins are super strong warriors that can't die. Well, they do, but then they come back to life.

Try Cheyenne McCray's books. Right now I am reading Seduced by Magic and it is great. No vampires though, it has witches, dark elves, faeries, and warriors.  I just love the dark elves (Drow) in this book, I want one! lol

Almost finished w/ Kim Harrison's the Rachel Morgan series...and I have to recommend that one too!  I have to say out of all of them the Lara Adrian are my least fav.  I wouldn't recommend them, too much like a romance novel to me...but obviously others like them!

You might want to look at Carrie Vaughn's "Kitty" novels.

The Kim Harrison Hollows stuff is not "hot"...the protagonist comes off like a nun in hooker's clothing.

ROFL  yeah, I consider all the series mentioned pretty tame.  Good but tame in the sex department.

The Keri Arthur books tame?  Man, I must be a prude.  But I hate to books that are overly sexed with no plot.

I have to agree a lot of the other books are definately tame...frustratingly so at time. ... Mercy needs to have sex with someone soon.  I certainly hope it happens in the up coming book.

Lara Adrian is good if you can find her books.  She is pretty similar to JR Ward, but not quite as awesome.

I bought Kitty and the Silver Bullet because I just couldn't wait!  I'm an absolute fan of hers!

I did decide to go with the Riley Jenson series by keri Arthur--so far, I'm loving it!  She does like her nookie, but I agree it goes with the character.  I only have the first in this series, so if anyone would like to offer a 2 for 1 on  the rest, please let me know!!  ;)
