From Publishers Weekly
Jeff Dowling goes home to Aransas, Tex., a small Gulf Coast fishing town, to help train a pair of porpoises that are supposed to become tourist attractions. He soon comes to love the porpoises as well as the woman who wants to release the pair to the wilds. "A remarkable first novel," PW wrote.
I live in this area and this book was really great. (Whether from this area or not). I received it here, but the book is old and unpostable. The person I received it from probably had it on their shelf for a long time.
If you like this sort of book I would recommend Turtle Diary by Russell Hoban. It's about a guy who meets a woman and they spend time at an aquarium and gradually hatch a plan to try an steal a large ocean turtle from the aquarium and set it free into the ocean. I won't tell you if they succeed or not. If you like the book there was a movie made of the book starring Ben Kingsley and Glenda Jackson.
