I haven't read any Paranormal books in a long time.  However, I am now  reading Bitten by Kelley Armstrong and it is awsome.  This book is so good that I want to read more paranormal stuff but I don't know what will be good.  Please tell me what paranormal authors and books you have found to be real page turners.

Bitten is just one is an aboutr 10 book series.  Read the rest in the series!  I love Kelley Armstrong!

And take a look at a couple of the threads... many are about books we love...and hate!

Some of my favorites are the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris, The Hallows series by Kim Harrison, Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs, Werecat series by Rachel Vincent, Morganville vamps by Rachel Caine.  I know there are many more, but that's just off the top of my head.  Hope this helps!

Hi Judy.  Bitten was the first paranormal I read, too, and was hooked.

I like J.R. Ward, and I will second Charlaine Harris and Particia Briggs, also. I haven't tried Kim Harrison yet, but have her books here, and I am sure they are excellent, too.

Happy Reading!  :-)

Vicki

Absolutely read the rest of Kelley Armstong's books.  I also agree with Andrew/Darcey on Charlaine Harris, Kim Harrison, Patricia Briggs & Rachel Caine. I also like Keri Arthur, Jim Butcher, Maryjanice Davidson, Lori Handeland, Tanya Huff, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Marjorie M Liu, Katie MacAlister, Lynsay Sands and Kerrilyn Sparks, just to name a few.

I got hooked on  paranormals after reading Bitten, too.   After that series, I moved on to Kim Harrison's Dead Witch Walking,   I also read Sherrilyn Kenyon's Fantasy Lover and the Dark Hunter series.    I love Charlaine Harris, Maryjanice Davidson, too.

My most recent favorites are Nalini Singh and Larissa Ione, and J R Ward.   I'm sure there are others I'm not recalling right now.

Judy, I think it depends on what you like.  If you like humor, you'd probably like MaryJanice Davidson or Katie MacAlister.  If you like strong, sexy men you'd probably like J.R. Ward.  If you like a strong female lead character, you'd probably like Patricia Briggs or Kim Harrison.  Of course, there are lots of other authors in each of those categories, but those are my biggest recommendations.

Wow!  It looks like I have alot of other books to look into.  I already have the next two books after Bitten on my wish list and a couple others she wrote.  Thank you all for the suggestions.

I haven't read anything by Karen Chance yet Elisabeth, but I have her in my sights!

I've only been reading paranormals for about a year now, and Bitten was one of my first.  The first para I read was by Jeaniene Frost, and I was hooked from there.  I've since been reading Sunny, Keri Arthur, Rachel Vincent, Laurell K. Hamilton, Christine Warren, J. R. Ward, Patricia Briggs, Stephenie Meyer, Kelley Armstrong, Jennifer Armintrout, and Ellen Schreiber.

I read a bunch of series at a time, because I never seem to have the full series when I start one...plus I can't read a series back to back or I get bored with it.  This way it's exciting each time I pick up a book...although it's getting a little difficult for me to pass up the next one in a few series, because they are so good!

Vicki Pettersson is one of my favorites. I also like Rachel Vincent, Laurell K Hamilton, Carrie Vaughn, Kim Harrison, Patricia Briggs...so it seems like you have gotten some great recommendations. If you need a quick reference to the order of books in the series, go to fantasticfiction.co.uk

Midnight's Daughter is great.  I also think it really depends on whether your interests are more paranormal romance or urban fantasy.  I put Kelley Armstrong in the urban fantasy catagory, and I think Karen Chance and Patricia Briggs are comparable.  I also am a big fan of Jennifer Rardin's Jaz Park's series (although I've only read the first).

Should the Kelly Armstrong series (with Bitten) be read in order or would the books still make sense if they were read as I got them?

Yvette, I'd recommend reading Armstrong's series in order.  The plot has a lot of continuing bits and pieces so you'd miss a lot if you skipped books.

I read Bitten, Stolen, and Broken before I read the ones that come in the middle and I was fine, but generally I agree they are better understood if they are read in order.

Thanks!  I have a couple of the books coming to me, but I guess I will wait until I can start with "Bitten".
