The author takes you through a somewhat minute review of her own favorite books, hoping to give some insight on how to get a closer look at how writing is rendered. If you're not a fan of the classics, ie.. Jane Austen, Emily Bronte, Charles Dickens, etc, then this book could be a very tedious read.
Palmer D. (catwriter) reviewed Reading Like a Writer : A Guide for People Who Love Books and for Those Who Want to Write Them on
This book has an inscription from a friend on the dedication page but it ALSO has Francine Proses's signature on the cover page! I think my friend got it from the Strand bookstore in NYC. Interesting concepts regarding the ways a writer can learn from reading, and readers can learn to write. Beautifully written.
