Reading and Writing Our Language Author:Lida B. McMurry and F. T. Norvell We praise God for Christian education. And we thank the Lord for our main school (350 students and staff) here in Arlington Heights, Illinois, as well as our thousands of home and other schools, numbering over 24,000 students in all 50 states, Canada, and fifty-four other countries. the Christian Liberty Academy Satellite Schools (CLASS) program... more » is one of the largest and fastest growing school systems in the nation.
In addition to organizing traditional schools in churches, etc., the nationally recognized CLASS program also makes education within the home a possibility for parents who feel they have not had the time or the know-how to educate their own children. At a time when public schools are in trouble, the home school movement is showing impressive growth. It is a movement dedicated to quality education. As an independent and non-denominational educational program CLASS students represent all branches of the Christian faith.
Our educational system is religious in that all education is inescapably religious. It is impossible to train a child in an ideological vacuum that is morally, ethically, and religiously neutral. To attempt to do so is to make the child a practical, if not professing atheist. Education will either be Christian or it will not be Christian. It will either tend to produce Christians or it will produce the opposite. As Jesus clearly taught, "He that is not with me is against me" (Matthew 12:30).
As Christian educators it is our desire to see both students and parents trained in godly principles. And we believe that good textbooks will help to accomplish this. We sincerely hope that this text material, well-grounded in Scriptural truth, will be used by God to strengthen the Christian home and school.« less
