is on it's third person - waiting 48 hours!

It has 21 people wishing this book when I did a search.  Maybe people are still away on a vacation for the 4th.  We had some power failures but I haven't heard of any major weather any where lately.

Well, maybe someone who didn't expect to get moved up the pile so fast is getting closer to the top.  I know I was surprised this week to get one accepted.

And that's another thing.  Boo-hoo!  I have seven books that are waiting for members to accept one a heavily WL and the others just things I found to order.  Where is everybody?  Accept my request, mail my books!

Okay I'm done.

It's vacation season and many people probably have their accounts on hold.

I also get a little annoyed when I'm waiting for a request to be accepted when I have other books to mail out. I don't like having to go to the post office every day. But this weekend the building that housed the equipment for the cable and internet burned down, leaving the majority of the community without service. I'm amazed that it only took 24 hours to get everything back up and running. It might be vacation or something totally unexpected and unplanned that leaves it hard to even go somewhere to check accounts.

I used to be one who mailed pretty much every single day. I was blessed with the fact that this awesome little PO inside a "Debby's Hallmark" was directly across the road from my workplace and literally next door to the gym. My routine of work > PO > gym was faboo. I *loved* this PO b/c it was staffed not by slow, surly, wrong-rules-following PO workers, but nice Debby's Hallmark ladies. Since I go to the gym nearly every day and most Saturdays, I hardly ever waited more than a day to mail a book.

Well, my gym flatlined. Belly-up. It's weird how they're so transient, but we were given a few days' notice before the doors were locked shut. Our memberships were transferred over to other places, and the one I picked is about 5 miles down the road. It is no longer so convenient to go to that Debby's. Yesterday I made a special trip just in the middle of the workday, but the whole going every day thing is a goner. I still now usually mail within 4 days (sometimes quicker if I'm already planning to go), but you just never know when your perfect situation is going to turn. I hate NOT immediately clicking that "Yes, I can mail" button... because I love mailing books to people. But now I have to time it to when I may be by that PO or another one.

It won't offer a WL book to you if your account is on hold. If it's autorequest then it'll automatically accept teh book for you. So if it's vacations that are the problem then they forgot to go on hold and will find their WL smaller.  If you let a WL offer time out it removes it from your WL.

It is annoying when you have other books to mail out and a WL book just cycling through.

Everytime we get a big mention in some major magazine, news program or something-there's a boom in people joining PBS. Then a good chunk of them just forget about it but don't close their account. And so weeks and months later there's a whole bunch of dead accounts needing to be purged as their posted books and WL work their way to the top.

At least they've reduced the time it takes them to put an account on hold for no responses.  I still don't know what the magic # is but I think it's pretty low now.  Which is good for that person who forgot to go on hold-helps prevent them from having to repost a bunch of books or reWL a bunch and start at the end of the line again.
