This fantasy role-playing gamebook is part of a series, but it can be read alone. You are Pip, a young apprentice of the wizard Merlin. A sorcerer's curse has turned the kingdom of Avalon into a land of nightmares. Leprous frogs blot out the sun, putrid fungus attacks buildings, gold rusts, cloth rots, and decay and death pollute the land. And its up to you to lift the curse.
In this Before role-playing video games became mainstream, these type of books were all we had. The Grailquest series is unique in that it combines humor with adventure. I remember playing and loving these as a kid- and I still love them as an adult. I looked for these books for years and never found them- they are very rare. Finally I bought the whole set on ebay. I would never, ever part with them. This is one of my favorites of the series. Lots of British humor, fantasy, and danger. Excellent.
