I am new to this and I don't know what to do. I had auto requested  a book and two people sent it to me. I don't know how this happened or what to do about it. Only one came through to be checked as received so far. Any ideas on what I should do?

The first sender probably didn't mark it mailed and it went to the next person in line.  Go to your En route to me tab and mark the book received.  Then go to your transaction archive and stroll down and find the book here, you can place your mouse over the red X to see what it tell you, system canceled, ect.   You do not have to give a credit to the person listed here.  This is from the help center.  



  • You are not obligated to give a second credit for a canceled copy of a book when you submitted only one request
    • You are also not obligated to send the book back (although this is a nice thing to do if the sender is a new member).
    • You are obligated to mark the book received that is on your En Route to Me tab on My Account. 
      • If you do wish to give credit to Sender #1, you can mark that copy of the book received from the canceled transaction:
        • Go to  your Transaction Archive:
          • place your cursor over My Account in the toolbar at the top of the site
          • Click Transaction Archive in the menu that drops down
          • you can also click the link 'Transaction Archive" from the My Account page
        • Scroll down to see the canceled transaction for this book.
          • Check the sender name and Details to be sure it is the correct transaction
          • There are sometimes several canceled transactions for one title
        • Click on the transaction
        • The usual Book Received screens will come up from there.
      • Again,  you do not have to mark the canceled copy received.
        • If you like, you may Post the extra copy of the book into the system for others to request.  


  • You can also send this person a PM from the canceled transaction to see if thye want to give you a credit to mail the book back to them.

    I had the same thing happened to me and when I went to my transaction archive and saw that the second book had been canceled by the system.

    Someone didn't mark it as mailed. Technically you only have to give a credit to the 2nd person the request went to.  The 1st person forfieted their credit when they didn't mark it as mailed.  It's up to you whether or not you want to give the 1st person a credit.

    I'm just curious here, but...

    Do *YOU* personally mark the first one received, thus giving a credit to the person who forgot to mark it mailed? Or do you let them forfeit the credit, keep the book, and possibly relist it?

    Just curious what the general feel of this group is....

    If the first person wants the book back then they should send a credit or postage to the person that received it. Personally, I think that they should at least know and be able to decide if they want it back. I would pm them and ask what they want to do about it. Since it is their fault for not marking the book mailed in the first place.
