I just received a book in the mail that still shows up on my account as "will be mailed by 2/4/09". That's today!

I sent a PM to the sender to remind her to click the mailed button so I can mark it as received.  I understand how busy we all get and am not upset by this at all, in fact I'm glad she found the time to mail it earlier than she thought she would!

My question is - what happens if she does not get to check the book as mailed before the mail-by-date deadline of today passes? Will my request then go to another member? Can I stop this from happening?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Tara M.

Tara, monitor your account carefully the next couple of days, because if your Sender does not mark it mailed today, PBS will cancel the transaction with them and send the request to another member.  You will not be able to prevent this - you'll need to cancel that request if that happens, or you will get a second copy.

Make sure to check the name on the package to the name on the transaction. What may have happened is that the first person who got your request mailed it, but failed to do so. The system would have cancelled the first transaction and passed your request on to the next person and that is who you see as having not mailed it when you get the book from the first person. If this is the case and you end up with two copies, you do not have to give the credit to the first person who did not mark it mailed. If you do not get the second copy, then you will need to mark this one as received in your transaction archive.

You can check the name on the transaction by clicking on the PM button. You can also look for cancelled transactions for that book in your Transaction Archive or look at the credit activity to see if it shows the order being cancelled.

Robin, Check your wish list as well. Since you got the book, check and see if the title is still on the WL. If it is delete it so that your request will not get passed on.  You can then do as Melanie suggested and find the correct transaction in your transaction archive and give the credit from there to make sure it goes to the person who sent the book.

oh and they have 2 days AFTER the mail by date to mark it mailed, so if they don't mark it mailed by Friday is when it should roll to your WL or RL

Thanks everyone for your help! I'll be sure to check in to my PBS account even MORE frequently this week. (I lLOVE this site and its become a routine to check my email then this site each day!)

I did check the name of the sender against the person in the transaction when I PM'd and it is the same person. And thanks for the tip about the wish list - I don't remember if that how I requested the book but I'll double check.

I was pretty sure there was a couple of days buffer before the transaction moves on to the next  person, but I wasn't completely sure and I knew that you guys in the forums would know! I've found many helpful tips in these forums! And now that I know how easy it is to post a question and response...well I just may become a "regular"  here ;-)

I'll let you know how it all works out.

Tara

FYI: It all worked out - the member logged in just in time and was still able to mark tha she mailed the book.

Thanks again for all the input!
