Today, I received a book I had ordered from a member but at the same time in another package I received a book I didn't order.  It's likely that she mistakenly printed out my address twice instead of the right one for the second book.  But it's not a book I want since I've already read it.  I've PMed the owner of the book, but in the meantime, I was wondering what do you usually do in a situation like this?

Well you've let them know.  If they want you to pass the book on to the right person ask them to buddy you a credit to cover postage.  Or they give the other person their credit back, you can post the book and they can order it right off your shelf.  If it was a WL book they can add it back to their WL and you can post it right to them.  It could just be that they included a free book they thought you might like.  Some people do that.  I'm trying to get rid of more books then I send out so I'd prefer that people didn't do that.  But some people love getting a surprise book.

Definitely not a freebie unless she's a reeealllly nice person.  I just went and checked and the 'free' book has a wishlist of 122 people.  It won't be a problem reposting it, but I'm sure that there's someone out there waiting for it.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Since it's a WL book I would find out from the sender who it was supposed to go to and how they want you to handle the situation.  They can buddy you a credit and you can send it back to them. I think the easiest thing would be for the 3rd person to add it back to their WL and you post it directly to them.  Make sure you post from their WL page and not the book description page or it'll go back into the FIFO line.  The person it was supposed to go to can also contact PBS and ask to be put back at the top of the line.

I wouldn't do anything until you hear from the sender.  They may solve the problem for you.  :>)

I would PM the sender and get the address for who is supposed to get it. I've only had one time that the sender refused to pay the postage to send it on and I just send it because I certainly would want someone to get the book to me if it happened that one of my WL books went the wrong direction.
