Great-uncle Frederick's extensive collection of antique knickknacks and whatnots are to be sold, the proceeds to fund Cousin Dolph's pet charity: the Senior Citizens' Recycling Center. All goes smoothly until tea is served; what Cousin theonia sees in the leaves causes her to jurl one of the antique cups (brought from China by a Kelling clipper ship) against the wall.
Theonia's forebodings prove correct. Before the big event, one of the Center's members is murdered, and an examination of the will points the finger of suspicion at the Kellings. Adding insult to injury, an irritating reporter appears anhd a seedfy person involvwed in an old family scandal reappears. To make matters even worse, another corpse pops up in the gardening shed on the night of the charity ball.
