Started yesterday -- finished today! I remember noticing Woodworth's writing style and little details when I read Through Violet Eyes, but this book went down in two quick gulps! It's a very fast-paced story, and I gave in and let myself fly through it.

It's not the happiest story. It left me feeling a bit sad and grim so I think I'll take a little break before jumping into the next book in the series.

But I'll definitely be continuing on with the series though! The Violets make for great plots and Woodworth is a good storyteller. I'd also recommend these books to anyone who likes thrillers or paranormals.

But ugh! It took Natalie forever to do the thing I immediately thought of doing when the going got tough! Geez girl, if you're holding a good card then go ahead and play it! Maybe part of my rush to get to the end was to find out if she ever going to do the obvious! :P

Liked the series, I found it original and entertaining. I thought the premise of using mediums in court to be original and interesting. The writing style was fine, the characters were believable.

This is the 2nd book in a series from this author. If you love mysteries with a strong female leading character, don't hesitate to read this one. This is a great author.

Fine, spooky thriller in the "Through Violet Eyes" universe, this one with a corrupt Violet being used to channel a spirit intent on destroying Natalie Lindstrom and everyone she loves.

Second part of a fabulous new series. The Violets can be inhabited by the dead. Now the victims get revenge. But with this book, there is a twist. A corrupt Violet is facing Natalie and is going to make her go back into her career. Taking away her new life, to protect her daughter, her father and herself.

Very good! This is the second in a series and although I did some major skimming during the courtroom scene(s), I was completely absorbed in the rest of the story.

Violets, a small group of individuals born with violet eyes and the ability to communicate with the dead. Society has accepted the idea that death is not the end, and courtrooms regularly employ Violets to introduce testimony from murder victims.

When a teenage boy is put on trial for shooting his wealthy parents, a well-known Violet takes the stand and channels the dead parents to confirm that it was someone other than their son who pulled the trigger.

Meanwhile, Natalie Lindstrom, a Violet who has retired from the job and is working hard to prevent her daughter, Callie, from entering it, examines the case and discovers that the Violet on the stand might be falsifying the postmortem testimony, something previously thought impossible.

Natalie's also grappling with her mother, a Violet institutionalized years ago; her mother says she has been visited by the Thresher, a ruthless killer who refuses to stop his ghoulish work even though he has been executed.

The 2nd in the series of 4. Fantastic!

I actually enjoyed this one more than the first one. The murder/mystery part of the storyline was much more interesting, although much gorier. I enjoyed learning more about Natalie and her past. The history behind her mother and how it all played into this book.

The relationship between Natalie and Dan was very thought provoking. I mean wouldn't everyone be tempted to hold on to someone if the could? But wouldn't it be a bit selfish?

All in all a very good read and I am looking forward to reading the third one.

This is the 2nd in the Violet series. Think this was better than the first book. Natalie now has a daughter, has left the core and is building and new life.

An excellent sequel to "Through Violet Eyes"!

The characters are wonderful and the idea of the Violets being able to speak for the dead is so creepy and fascinating.

I can't wait to read more about the Violets.

Stephen Woodworth's Through Violet Eyes introduced the 'Violets', humans born with violet eyes who possess the attribute (at times a benefit yet at times a curse) to be trained as conduits for the dead. Six years have passed as With Red Hands begins.

Natalie Lindstrom, one-time investigator with the North American Afterlife Communication Corps (NAACC, a society for training the 'Violets'), rides a roller coaster this time around. While attempting to build a new life, Natalie is determined to protect her five-year old daughter Callie from the influences of the NAACC. Natalie is pursued by a killer, and her family members and friends are also in danger. Her mother Nora has been institutionalized for many years, believed to be mentally ill. Nora always talks about a demonic force called the 'Thresher', a.k.a. 'Needlepoint Killer'. Natalie's father and stepmother live in New Hampshire, and are not immune to the evil that lurks around the corner. The lives of her friend, Los Angeles deputy district attorney Inez Mendoza, and husband Paul are also in jeopardy.

Inez approaches Natalie for assistance in prosecuting a high-profile case, the brutal murder of the parents of teenager Prescott Scott Hyland, Jr., who had a substantial inheritance as motive. Natalie hesitates for fear of a backlash from the NAACC, which has stationed a watchdog at Natalie's door. Events lead to Natalie's agreeing to help Inez, doubling the danger to herself and Callie, as 'employing a non-Corps Violet in a criminal investigation is a felony.' Shrewd defense attorney Malcolm Lathrop hires inscrutable Lyman Pearsall (a Violet) as a conduit for Scott's murdered parents, assisting Scott's defense. There is much more involved, including high courtroom drama, scientific 'soul scan', and high-paced, heart-stopping, chilling adventure - which I leave for readers to discover.

Even better and more suspense filled then his first book I am eager to read the next. I am seldom impressed with male writers and this guy has got it going on. He keeps ones attention focused and spellbound with a captivating writing style that makes one turn page after page and lose track of time. A VERY good read.

She can connect the living with the dead. She can help bring justice to the murdered. But now a killer is out to stop her...with his own red hands. The case against Prescott Hyland, Jr. is airtight...until a corrupt Violet delivers devastating testimony against another man. Now Natalie is being drawn back into her former career and a danger far worse than she can imagine. For while one killer is being tried in a courtroom, another has gone horribly free; to unleash a storm of vengeance---aimed straight for the heart of Natalie's new life. Because, in the world of the Violets, sometimes your past can literally come back to haunt you....

Natalie Lindstrom was once one of an elite group of investigators with the power to interview the dead victims of violent crime. But now Natalie has had enough. Enough of the violence. Enough of the darkness that has already gotten too close to her five-year-old daughter. Yet as she tries to build a new life and protect her child from the world she has left, Natalie still knows injustice when she sees it. And she knows that in a high profile California trial, a young man is getting away with murder.
