It is most unusual for me to read a series out of order, but I needed this book to complete a reading challenge. I was able to follow the story even without reading previous books. Good characters and good plot.
Let me first say that the mystery was well done; I liked the way that part of the story played out. However-- I couldn't make myself care about Angie's life, and the big focus on what designer clothes she was wearing every minute of every day bugged the crap out of me. Oh, well. From the other reviews, it seems like this book won't have much trouble finding a new home.
Chef Angie Amalfi doubts if she'll ever survive her engagement to Homicide Detective Paavo Smith. With her mom taking control of the wedding plans, and Paavo's reluctance to make any decisions, things are not looking up.
Angie jumps at the chance to get away for a few days with Paavo, and heads to a desert town in Arizona. But her groom-to-be gets entangled with the death of a former acquaintence, and the small desert town is ablaze with deadly secrets. Will Angie make a tasty getaway or be eating her last meal?
