Outstanding book by Larry Bond! This is the guy who worked with Clancy on Red Storm Rising to make it such a great novel. Similar in style, an epic novel describing the invasion of North Korea into South Korea, and all the politics and military maneuvers behind the scenes that could potentially take place. The book is so solid and believable in its details that it makes you think hard about the cost of war and how the American public would react if a war of this magnitude ever broke out. Compared to this book, American resolve hasnt even come close to being tested like it could have been if the USSR hadnt fallen.
Good book if you like adventures similar to Tom Clancey. Account of the Second Korean War. I read this in Autumn 2006 and it was pretty scary.
Exciting novel of military, naval, and air force actions on the order of Tom Clancy.
Abridged EditionAfter listening to Tom Clancy's "Red Storm Rising", I became intrigued with his collaborator, Larry Bond. So I found one of his novels (this just happens to be the first one I came across). As I've stated before, one thing I look for in a book/audio is plausible believability. This book has it in spades! This book is seething with suspence, primarily because the plotline is most probable (not just possible, but PROBABLE). I never trusted North Korea anyway! As I stated, this book has a very interesting plot, a well researched storyline, exciting and totally believable scenarios that give you a roller coaster ride of high tech violence and mayhem (what else can a Mystery/Techno-Thriller fan ask for!) You have intense action sequences on land, in the air, and on the sea (what else is left?) This book is a fun listen! Of course, these are just my opinions, your may be different, but you won't know if you don't give it a try ...................Wiley coyote
From Publishers Weekly
"Tom Clancy's collaborator on Red Storm Rising here makes his first--and impressive--independent contribution to the techno-thriller," wrote PW . Bond establishes a credible scenario of a North Korean invasion of the South, although the novel's individual episodes are more suspenseful than the course of the war as a whole.

Having listened, and read Tom Clancy's Red Storm Rising, I began wondering about this Larry Bond guy, who collaborated on that book, so I found a copy of Red Phoenix --- a nice surprise! This book is equally good! It has an interesting plot - North Korea invading South Korea! This is a very probable plot, not just believable, but probable in today's stability flux on the Korean penninsula!
Bond presents a very well researched storyline in this book, exciting and totally plausible that gives you a roller coaster ride of high tech violence and mayhem --- just the thing we "Techno-Thriller" fans are looking for.
Actually I received this book with a bunch of others, and have not read it.
Smokin military story
