Luce, my little red pit bull, and I competed in our very first Rally Obedience trial today. We've been working toward this for years (she came with a fat load of behavior issues). We somehow managed to score an 89 (out of 100 points) which was good enough for second place!! We got a big red rosette along with our green Qualifying score ribbon. I am so thrilled! She was a little rough at the beginning but halfway through her little brain kicked on and she worked beautifully for me.

Here she is, looking ever so proud of herself: http://shattering.org/images/eleusisribbons.jpg

What a cutie!  You must be so proud!

Sadly, obedience is not my little Pepper's forte.

I would never be able to train my dogs for obedience. Congrats on just getting good enough to compete, but even more congrats for getting second!

We got our second leg today with a 91. No special bonus ribbons, but I don't care. I'm still thrilled.

She got to eat a lot of treats and kiss a lot of strangers, so she was thrilled too.

She's having knee surgery in two weeks (partially torn cruciate ligament) so we'll be out for probably a good six months, but that's ok. We'll get her RN eventually.

Katie, hi if your still around. The picture of your dog brought tears to my eyes. My last dog was a male pit and he looked exactly like her. His ears were never done, but that's the only difference. I didn't get him until he was eight and he died when he was ten, so it was short, but wow, he was the best dog I ever had. I still miss him.

Her ears are actually natural full-prick ears, not cropped. They're ridiculous and I love them. They give her so much character.

Pit bulls can make the best pets. I only had my old guy Harv for 15 months, but he was the sweetest, most gentle dog. Even though his time with me was short, he will always be a part of my heart.
