I just finished The Red Tree by Caitlin Kiernan and really, really enjoyed it! It would make a great discussion/book club book choice, too.

Sarah has fled to a farmhouse for rent in Rhode Island to focus on writing a novel. She comes across an old manuscript and typewriter left by a former tenant who was apparently obsessed with the dark history of a giant red oak tree on the farmhouse's property. It's written in first person form, through a collaboration of her own journal entries. Sarah herself becomes obsessed with this manuscript and story and slowly she loses sense of reality and her own dreams (or not?). There are a few stories within this story and it's a complex little morsel I thought I'd make others aware of. :) It is a WL book, but it's a good one.
