Today I was at one of the local thrift stores in search of books to add to my personal collection, as well as some to post here on PBS. After some time I came across a 10th Anniversary edition of Redwall by Brian Jacques. I decided to purchase this book for two reasons: 1. One of my best friends loves this series (even though he's in his early 20s) and 2. I enjoyed the book myself and seeing as how it's a popular series I thought it would be a welcome addition to my shelves. After arriving home, I posted books on this site and then started to put my own books away. I picked up Redwall, absently flipped through some pages, and noticed writing on the title page. There was a message presumably to a child from a parent (which you see often in books purchased at yard sales and thrift stores) but right below the title was a signature in blue ink. The signature of Brian Jacques. I bought a book signed by him for $1. I could not believe it and still can't!

I just had to share this story with other book lovers. : )

Okay, I read your post last night and I'm like "Nothing cool like that ever happens to me." Then today,. I make my weekly trip to the UBS (yes, weekly. lol) and I found two books by Heather Estay. I read the back covers and saw that they sounded good so I got them. I went to pay and I looked on the inside (where they stamp their prices) and one of the books on the inside says "Enjoy! Heather Estay" I thought it was awesome. Nothing like that ever happens to me. Just though I would share! :)

I've had this phenomenon happen several times. It really pays to take a few moments to open up the front covers of the books in the Thrift Stores!

That is so cool!  Now I want to go to Goodwill (where I buy most of my books that I don't get here) and check inside the covers!

Thanks for sharing!
