Is there a time (when cooled, still warm, etc.) that is best to put leftovers (chicken, roast beef) in fridge?

Thanks, in advance, for your input.

I know that for larger leftovers, you should wait until they've cooled a bit before putting them in the fridge so that they don't raise the temperature of the whole fridge.  But, I think this means, like, you cooked a turkey and no one wants it.

For regular leftovers, my mom used to put them in the fridge whenever we were done with dinner.  So I do too.  29 years later, no problems.

Thanks, Purvi. My Mom put leftovers away while cleaning up kitchen (still warm). My husband says it should be cooled before going in the fridge. I'm afraid I'll get involved in other things and leave it sitting on the counter.
