I was checking my TA to see if the requestor had ever marked my one RWP transaction as resolved, and I noticed a "give refund" button that I'd never seen before!!  I did apologize for my mistake and gave back the credit, but I did it the only way I knew how to give credits... by finding the person's profile page and clicking the "give credits" button there.  Was the "refund" button always there, or is this new??  Wondering if that would have been a better way to go, assuming that might record the refunded credit right there on the TA so that R&R would easily know it had been resolved by me even if the requestor won't mark it as such...  :-/

The "refund" button has been there I think maybe a month or two...not like forever or anything...

That one showed up just a few days before the profile one I believe. It seemed like they were all done right after the buddy list changes.

Call me blind but I can't find the refund button your referring to.  Is it seen when I hit my transaction activity button?  Does it only show up when you have a RWAP?

Go into your TA, find a book you sent and then go into the tranaction details. You will find it there.

If you have no unresolved RWP transactions, you won't find one.

From the Help Center:

If you need to refund a credit from a swap for a book you have sent, you can click the [Give Refund] button on the completed transaction for the book in your Transaction Archive.

  • Click Transaction Archive linked from My Account to go to that list
  • Locate the transaction for a book you sent
  • Click Request Details link on the right side of the transaction
  • Click [Give Refund]
    • The credit value for the swap (1 credit for a bound book, 2 for an audiobook) will be refunded to the requestor.
    • The button will disappear from the transaction.

Edited because the buttons disappeared

No, the Give Refund Credits button is on all transactions, RWP or not. I have never had a RWP and I have it on all of my sent transactions. The buttons specific to RWP are different, they ask if the RWP was resolved or not.

I think what they mean in the Help doc is that you can only return the credit from a tranaction one time. Once you have done it, the button will disappear. Maybe that will help people keep track, if someone says they never got the credit, you can look at the transaction and if the button is gone, you know the credit has been returned.

eidt to correct the wording.

No Melanie, I'm not yelling at you, just emphasizing <grin>

[Give Credits] and [Give Refund] are different buttons, and while you note correctly that you can *always* see the [Give Credits] button (sort of), you won't see [Give Refund] unless you request the details of the transaction. Just looking at my Transaction list, I don't see it. I have to choose "Request Details".

Note that you only see [Give Credits] when you go to a member profile. Get there by clicking their name in your Transaction Archive.

Edited for clarity & spelling

Yes I used the wrong term it is the Refund Credits, button. I was just making it clear to the other posters that it always there on a completed transaction, not just RWP transactions.

The Give Credits button is on the member profile and the member's bookshelf.

Melanie, actually Mary is right, the REFUND is only there on RWPs, if they transaction had no problem, the REFUND button is not there. I checked several of my transactions that did not have a problem and there is no refund button, but on the one marked RWP there is one.

I've been testing Sherry's theory, and it doesn't appear to be true.  I've sent no books that were marked as received with a problem by the receiver, yet some of my transactions have the "give refund" button.  (The old ones -- over a year past -- don't, and I found one other recent one without the button.  I haven't checked all my transactions.)

Honest to God, I have that button on all of my sent transactions. I looked at every one on my first page in the transaction archive, hit the request details link, and the Give Refund button is right there. These were definitely not  RWP transactions. I have never had a RWP transaction. One of the great PBS mysteries I guess, because I would swear on my brand new Mary Higgins Clark book that I have this button on all of my sent transactions (can't be on received books since you are on the wrong end of those transactions to give a refund).

edit - wouldn't let me post the transaction details :(

eta: I even went back to check the first books sent in my archive and the Refund Credit button is there too. How weird that some of us have them and some don't.

I got it! I got it! Yep, Melanie you are right and I soooo apologize!!! I forgot to select only transactions requested FROM me!!! I looked at several that were requested BY me!!! I'm so sorry to make you think you must be going nuts!

Can I blame it on too much activity yesterday? I'm needing a nap today? I didn't sleep good at all last night? hahaha

Again, I'm so sorry, Melanie!

No problem Sherry, there are many other indicators pointing towards the nuts factor today :)

I was thinking it was the sent vs received issue, but stranger things have happened around here than just missing refund Credit buttons, LOL!

Oh, I totally understand the "some have it, some don't" occasional occurances! I'm just glad I actually realized what I was doing before I got too adamant that you were wrong and I was right! hahahahaha

I'm off to get that much needed sleep now :)  Thanks for not holding it against me :)
