13 stories that interweave connections between relatives and strangers. "Baxter's stories tend to be love stories, but it is love tinged with fear, even danger, where shock, comedy, and love combine in unexpected ways." -W.W. Norton

This is an anthology of thirteen stories by Charles Baxter (the author of 'Believers') Many of these stories have been chosen by the panel for inclusion in the annual Best American Short Stories several years in a row.

Reading these stories, I found Baxter's writing to be similar in style and subject matter to Sherwood Anderson's Winesburg, Ohio

A note about it's condition: a small bite mark out of the cover from my kitty :)
