When I was young my parent's bought me a book. It was a sort of epic fairy tale beginning with the birth of two twin princesses. One grew up beautiful and lovely and pleasant and adored by everyone. Her sister, because of a fairy "gift" became the exact opposite. Quiet, pensive, unatrractive and moody. The beautiful one marries a prince and has daughter. She dies when the child is a baby and her death is caused by fright at the sight of a large mechanical frog that was built to cheer her up.
The other sister had planned to get rid of her and causing the kingdom many problems as well as fostering the fear her neice has of frogs and attempting to keep her locked away and from ever meeting a prince. When a prince who is down on his luck goes looking for her, she turns him into a frog. However the princess overcomes her fear, kisses him and he changes into a human.
At the end, the unpleasant twin completely changes into the kind one and the unpleasant sister is the one that is dead.
I don't know what happed to my copy of the book and I can't remember the name of it since I haven't read it since I was 11. I'm currently in the process of collected some of the books from my childhood that I have forgotten and I would love to have this one back.
Another book I am looking for is the first in a series of fantasy books. It involves a girl whose family breeds horses I believe and she goes to the city to sell some. She joins up with a ship that is taking workers to gather some rare type of fruit or plant from an island that dragons inhabit half of. As long as they don't go on the dragon's side they will be fine. She connects mentally with the dragons, but is almost killed by the man in charge of the workers because he wants controll of the dragons. The first dragon she meets changes into a human male and goes home with her. She marries him. I know there are more books in the series, but I can't remember the name of the books or author and it's drving me nuts.
