I offered up a kid's book that had a WL of 52 people.......now on 3rd person.  Don't people clean up their WL when they buy a book or get it from the library and don't want a keeper copy?

I know , I hate when WL books time out, I guess people don't clean their WL.  I try to, but every once in awhile a WL book will come up for me and I don't recognize the book or remember ever wishing for it!  But I do turn those down quickly so that it can go on the next person.

Some people forget to put their accounts on vacation or just abandon them.

I know on the sister dvd site some people just keep adding to their wl and never delete stuff they don't want anymore.  It's like they take the time to add new release movies before you can even buy the movie but they don't take the time to remove titles they don't want anymore.

However there are probably lots of people who tidy up their wishlist.  It's just like real life!

I recently posted a WL book that I had waited 5 years to get...I was #3 on the WL and recently I saw that it was starting to move and sure enough the two people ahead of me either did not want it, but more likely, timed out. I read the book, posted it and looked at the profile of the person who was on WL wait for it and could see that they had not wished for a book or added any books to their bookshelf since 2011 -- in other words, an abandoned account and sure enough, the book timed out and went to the next member who fortunately accepted it right away. I am very reluctant to post to the general PBS population because of the growing (in my mind) number of abandoned accounts. WL books that I am not able to post to a friend using Gold Key membership routinely roll through 3-4 members before finally being accepted.

Just remember, by posting WL books that time out, you are helping to weed out inactive accounts.  Members are not reviewed for inaction until they have missed several offers.

I'm new to this but I have several WL books and I wonder about the ones that I'm 1-3 on. What if I don't have enough credits? (I know I can buy them :-) and I would have to because I want my WL books!) Now the chances of 13 or so books cropping up that fast is so tiny that I'm sure it won't happen but if it does happen sometimes, maybe the person doesn't have enough credits and doesn't want to purchase any? I don't know, just thinking out loud :-)

You can use the "not now" button once on each book.  This will put the book on your Wish List on Hold, until you manually switch it.

Credits are also for sale from other members in the Book Bazaar.

Well, OK, but I might be the third or fourth person on the WL, so I hope people will keep posting those books :)

I had to laugh when I saw that some of my wish list books have a lot of people wishing for them! In some cases I'm in the hundreds! I figured in around 7 years I'll get them :-)

I have one that I just cannot face deleting.  The publisher went out of business before the book was published.  It helps to remind me to look to see if the book is released as an eBook, or if it just remains in legal limbo.

I am aware that I'm never getting the paper copy.

I have a book I posted to FIFO after waiting over a year to get from WL.

It is now on it's 4th person waiting to be accepted... I can't believe three people let it time out! It was so good!
