I have a book on my wishlist which kept going to my reminder list because the sender is declining my RC stating the front cover is ripped. I put it back on my wishlist right away and it seems like the requester is re-reposting this book again. If the front cover is ripped, isn't that against PBS guideline and the sender shouldn't be posting it anyway?

Rips under an inch are okay.  From help:

Cover not torn or chewed/gnawed

  • some used book stores cut out a small part of the cover; if the amount missing is less than 1 square inch, this is OKAY
  • a small rip (less than 1 inch) in the cover is OKAY

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but having your RC declined shouldn't move the book from your wishlist to your reminder list.

If you are the only one wishing for the book, you request it, and the request is denied, then the book is posted on the sender's bookshelf to be ordered by others. Since there is a copy available (even though not one you want), it is no longer considered a WL book and PBS does move it to your RL.

You need to stop Wish Listing it again right away and give their copy a chance to get requested.

When a wisher has RCs that an available copy doesn't meet, it is the available copy that gets the listing, not the Wisher. It get moved to your Reminder List and you can order it later, but as long as their copy is available you will not be able to Wish List it. You need either request it without your RCs, or wait for their copy to be taken.

eta: the front cover could be ripped, but still within the sites guidelines of less that one inch.

Since you are the one with the conditions, you need to wait until their copy is ordered.

If a sender declines by clicking This Book Does Not Meet Requestor Conditions. That book does not lose its place in the "FIFO" line It simply goes back into its previous place The requestor's request is passed to the next person offering the book. If this is a Wish List book and there are other people Wishing for the book, the requestor goes back onto the Wish List at the same place "in line" and the book is offered to the next Wishing member. and there is no one else Wishing for the book, the book is removed from the requestor's Wish List. the book goes onto the requestor's Reminder List the requestor will not be able to Wish List the book again until this copy has been sent out to another requestor (and there are no active copies in the system).

Hmm. I copy/pasted that from the help docs and it looks totally different than it did in the editing box.

Is this a paperback with the cover ripped, or a hardcover with a ripped dust jacket? Hopefully a more experienced member will correct me if I'm mistaken, but I believe it doesn't matter what condition the dust jacket on a hardcover is in, as long as the requestor has no condition in place for dust jackets.

Aiyah, just checked and only 1 wisher. Maybe that's why moving it back and forth leaving a day in between isn't enough time.

Sorry, your statement I put it back on my wishlist right away didn't seem to indicate you were waiting a month in between.

There really isn't much you can do IMO. You are the one with the conditions so you are the one that needs to wait it out.  There isn't really a way to tell for sure if their ripped cover is unpostable so telling the Team to are posting an unpostable book isn't really fair.

eta: Now you changed your post from saying you only Wish Listed it once in Nov, Dec, and now to ...moving it back and forth leaving a day in between isn't enough time. ??? I am too confused to follow.

I requested the book twice a while ago and just re-requested it last night but didn't realize that I was the only person actually requesting it. I just re-edit it cause I'm probably just getting the same person everytime.
