Does anyone know if you can request more than one copy of a book from different members at the same time.  My mom and I both want the same book and I have seen it on two different members shelves.  Can I request them both at the same time?

Sorry, I'm not really good at navigating the help center to find the exact thing I'm looking for.

I thought the first had to be marked mailed before you could request another of the same isbn.

I think it is before you post another book to the bookshelf with the same ISBN.

You can order both at the same time if they are different editions (different ISBNs.)  If they are the same ISBN, you'll have to wait until one is on it's way before the system will allow you to order a second copy.

Ok, just for clarification, lol.  This is the message you get when you try to order a 2nd copy of a book (same ISBN) at the same time:

Book Request Duplicate

We are sorry but you have already entered a request for this book. You many not request the same book multiple times. Once you have received confirmation that the book is being mailed or that it is not being mailed, you may request again at that point.

OK now I'm confused.  I actually did order the two books at the same time and they were the same ISBN.  I did not get a message like Beth described.  In fact, there was no message at all, and the books were both listed on my Books I've Ordered Tab.  The only thing I can think is that maybe if you order directly from someone's shelf, this duplicate book thing does not apply.  I did order directly from the shelves of two different members, not from the book description page.  So maybe that's why the request went  through with no problems?  Any ideas anyone?

That might well be the reason. I have never tried to do that.

I've been able to use the "Order more from member" button to add a book I had already requested to another order. For example, I wanted two books by the same author so I requested book 1 and that request went to member A. She didn't have book 2 on her shelf, so I requested it in the normal way and that request was assigned to member B. I hit the order more button before completing the request and saw that she also had book 1. I was able to add it and make a bulk request for both books.

I was surprised, because I expected it to make me cancel the request with A before adding that book to the request with B, but no, it went through fine and all three books were on my Books I've Requested tab. I double checked that I had 2 requests for the exact same ISBN there, then canceled the first one from member A.
