Subject: "Request accepted" that wasn't requested???

I received an email stating that a request was accepted for a book that I never requested--and yes, the wrapper has been printed.

As far as the book goes, I'll probably just post it when it arrives, but I don't want to be wasting my all-too-few credits on books I don't want!

I and everyone else in my household were away from home--and computer--this weekend, arriving home last night near midnight, but the email was sent at 8:07 p.m. yesterday. How could a request have been made on my account without my knowledge? How can I prevent it from happening again?

are you sure it wasn't a wish list book you had on auto request?

That's what I was thinking-a WL book on autorequest?

I periodically peruse my WL and find things I don't remember adding and books that I've bought elsewhere or got in a dif ISBN and never removed.

That's what I would guess too.  If not, be sure to send site feedback, naming the book title, time the request went through, etc - any details you have.  If it was a glitch, they'll want to get that fixed asap.

Could it have been an auto-request from your Wish List? I think that's the only way that your account would order something automatically for you. Check the details button on the transaction to see the specifics on when it was ordered, etc. Also, look at the book description page to see if it's a wishlisted book.

If you're sure it wasn't on your wish list and that you did not request it, contact R&R using the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page and explain the situation. If there was a glitch, they'd want to know about it, and if not, they should be able to tell you what happened.

Do you have any books on auto-request on your wish list?

Actually, the book was on auto-request on my Wish List, but (and please forgive me; I'm fairly new to this pbs thing!), previously, I thought I received an email requesting that I confirm and accept the book. But wait...maybe that was for WL items that were not on auto-request??

Anyway, on this request, the book info matched my auto-request for a hardcover, but in the review section, there was a message that said this one is a paperback. So no one's fault, I suppose, just computer program doing what it 's supposed to do.

Thanks for all the help...help...help...help!

a comment in the review section that it is a paperback does not absolve the sender of sending the wrong book.

if the book was never available in hb that is one thing (IMHO) but the sender clearly listed the book incorrectly and you would be right in asking for your credit back.

Is this a note in the book reviews? If so, it might not be the sender's review that's there. It might be someone else's.

Sorry for the earlier echo...I really thought I was the first poster!  Maybe I opened the question, got distracted, then answered w/o seeing if someone else had answered while I was doing something else.

There are a lot of old reviews where people used to put descriptions of their books instead of an actual review. They are trying to clean these all up.  See the Book Reviews To Clean Up thread.  Book reviews and tags are not for general book descriptions.  Book reviews are just for that-reviewing the book.  You can tag books w/a description of your copy-but it should not be considerred an out for posting a book incorrectly or an unpostable book. When ordering books, ignore tags & reviews that describe a book's condition. They are intended for the person who made them only. So if a tag or review sayd "no dust jacket"-that doesn't mean the copy you have ordered, has no dust jacket.  It's just someone making a note that their copy has no dust jacket.  See what I'm saying?  If you see reviews giving a books condition instead of a review-give them a thumbs down and report them so they can get rid of them.
