I recently posted an audiobook.  I got a request for it this morning but declined it because of the members RC.  They re-requested it and pm'd me to ask why I declined.  I pm'd them back and explained it was because of their conditions and declined it a second time.  They have now re-requested it a third time and pm'd me again saying to just send it anyway and they're sure it will be fine.

This is the only copy of this audiobook in the system so their request keeps coming to me.  But the way their RC are worded and the fact that I'm feeling hounded by this person makes me a little leery about sending out an audiobook for 2 credits to this person.  I'm sure if I decline it again they will just re-request it again and send me another pm.

I'm tempted to just remove the audiobook from my bookshelf for awhile.  What would you do?  Or has this ever happened to you?

Hi, I would decline again and PM and ask them to turn off the RC if they want to request it again.   I would not send anyway - it can come back to bite.

ETA - go with your gut is generally the correct thing to do...also if you don't want to send to them even w/o the RC - I would just decline it again!

For their 3rd request they have turned off their conditions.  It's still makes me a little leery about sending it though.  Just as you said jubead, I don't want to get bitten by it.  Especially since they are being so persistant about it.

What is the condition?   Does the audio cd meet the requirements without the RC?   If there is no doubt in your mind that it meets standards, then I would send it and I would also use PBS DC as insurance.   I always go with my gut on stuff like this and it generally is for the best.  It may turn out  fine:)

Well it is audiobook I picked up at a garage sale and I know it's in completely postable conidition.  Their condition for audiobooks however is about former library copies with lots of capitalized words emphasizing their point and not worded in the nicest of ways.

While I don't think it's a former library copy, I'm not really wanting to take a chance on them finding something wrong with it and losing 2 credits on it.

I totally understand.  Without the RC though even if it is a Library copy that can't be used as RWAP, but I know where you are coming from on this.  Remember you do not have to give back the credits  - it is desired but many members don't and one bad swap is not going to hurt your account.  So if you feel these are without a doubt postable - I would send it - if they RWAP - do not return the credits.   Just make sure you put all the information into the transaction archive if there is a problem.  The credits do not automatically go back to requestor that is in your control.

I would give a little bit a members get on the system for the evening and see what others suggest.

So if you feel these are without a doubt postable - I would send it - if they RWAP - do not return the credits.

I would agree with this. If there are no RCs on the last request, then you should accept and send. They cannot RWP -Does Not Meet RCs and get credits back if the RC is not active on the request. They can try, but the Paperback Team surely wouldn't support them in it.

I'd make sure I got the credits, and could see that they do receive it, by sending it with DC (and getting it scanned) or using PBS postage.

I would send them if they turn off the RCS. I would keep the PMS they sent telling you to send it despite the RC.  I would also use the PBS DC.

I'm guessing they don't want ex-library copies are because they tend to be a little more scratched up then personal ones.

If they mark it RWP for some reason you do not have to give the credits back if you know they were postable.  PBS doesn't even require a box with audiobooks.  So if they complain about the box being beat up-you owe them nothing.  Just put in your response that you declined the request 3 x's and the requestor was persistant and turned off the RCS.  PBS will see that and the PMS.  So unless you send them CDS that are all scratched up you should be ok.

I have an RC and sometime when I order a book I'll turn it off.  I have my WL on auto request and some of the books are for other people so I'll PM the person and say you can disregard this part of my RC the book isn't for me.

As jubead says the best thing to do is go with your feelings.  Turn it down and say you don't know it's origions.
