Hurray, I'm in the top 50 for books mailed in 7 days!!

Boo Hoo!!  Two requestors canceled on me today!!  The books are still showing to be marked as mailed cause I had already printed out the wrapper.  What do I do?

After you print the wrapper they can't cancel, can they?

ETA: per the help center

What if I want to cancel a request I made?

  • A requestor can cancel a request by clicking up until the time the sender accesses the address information (= prints the wrapper)

If you request a book and change your mind, but cannot cancel because the sender has already printed the address:

  • The sender is not obligated to cancel if you request this
    • if the book has already been mailed in good faith, of course the sender should not cancel.  You will have to mark the book received when you receive it and repost it to your own bookshelf if you don't want it.
    • If the sender cancels, he or she will have to repost the book, and it will go back to the "back of the line" for book requests.

If you printed the wrapper, they can't cancel.  Did you miss the mailing deadline?  If not, I would ask PBS for help.

I think after the address is accessed, only PBS can cancel the transaction.  If they PM'd you to cancel after you printed the address than you don't have to cancel.  If you want to cancel you'll have to contact PBS.  Unless they've changed so the sender can cancel after printing now.  The requestor isn't supposed to be able to cancel so that book requests don't get cancelled while you're at the post office.

Mary, if the wrapper has been printed but the book hasn't been mailed, the Sender can cancel the transaction (the Requester cannot).  It's when the book has been marked mailed that only PBS can cancel the transaction.

James is a tour guide and he's right.

Deborah - Can you check your transaction archive (located in the yellow bar across the top of your My Account page)? What does it say regarding these books?

OK that makes sense. I just noticed the typo in my OP and corrected it although I did think that once it was printed only PBS can cancel. Good to know that the sender can before marking it mailed.

Hey, and thanks for pointing out that top 50 thing. I just found out I was #1 for the last month. No wonder I have to keep buying tape.

Tracy and other,

Here are the dates under Transactions:

Requested 8/19

Accepted 8/20

Wrapper printed 8/20 & 8/22

I misplaced the first one,I wrapped it 8/24 Sunday night and took it to work Monday 8/25.  She sent me a PM saying she was canceling.  I never took any steps toward canceling

Canceled 8/26  -

It looks to me like you CAN cancel after the person prints the wrapper

She couldn't cancel it once the wrapper was printed. Did you say you'd mail in two days? Looks like the system cancelled it because you failed  to mark it mailed in time. You accepted on 8/20, so with the 2 day option it should have been mailed by 8/22 and marked mailed by the end of 8/25. When you had not marked it mailed, the system moved her order on to someone else and cancelled yours.

If it has indeed been cancelled than the PBS team did it for her as a user cannot cancel once a wrapper has been printed. I am surprised they did not send an email explaining.

By those dates it looks like it could have timed out for not being marked mailed like Melanie suggested.  I know I usually take the last possible date to mail, just incase. But sometimes I click it before I"ve gotten down to the last day. Could you have chosen an earlier date my mistake?
