This is more for my curiosity than anything else. I posted a book that has 1800 people wishing for it. I figured it would go prett fast but it is starting to to the fun roll over of people not responding within the 48 hour period. my question is what happens to those who do not respond? Do they get moved to the back of the list? I guess that would stink if for some reason you could not respond in the 48 hours but on the other hand if 1800 people want a book you better snatch it up!

After ( I think its 48 hrs)  it go's to the next person on the list.

I think those who dont respond it gets taken off their list and gos on their RL ? If you want a WL pretty bad and your getting close ,I'd put it on Auto .

It gets removed from your WL. If you rewish it then you go back to the end of the line.  Time outs are pretty common on books with long WL lines. People join PBS and then lose interest but don't close the account down.  Sometimes you get a few piled up at the top.   Then there are people who forget to go on vacation hold, lose power, computer dies, get sick etc..,

PBS will put an account that looks inactive on vacation hold.  I don't knwo what the magic number of non-responses is but I don't think it's very many.  Although it probably depends on how close together they are.  A couple of time outs in a week will probably get an account vacations quicker than say a time out one month and then another one a few months later.  In the ladder case it might take a long time to get someone closed down because the account doesn't get flagged.

I have found that the more wishers the longer it takes for the book to be ordered. It seemed surprising, but now makes sense.

Wow, there is a book on here that has 1800 people wishing ?  What book is it?  I don't think I have ever seen that many wishers.

The Help has over 2,000 wishers for the hardback.

Thanks everyone! I know patience is something you really need to have on the site. The book I listed with the 1800 wishers is The Hunger Games.

YA books often have huge WLs.  And move slow.  At least this rolling through the WL is cleaning up the old wishes.

I'm on #5 of a book with only 13 wishers.  At least #4 refused instead of letting the full 48 hours elapsed.

I posted "The Help" a couple weeks ago and it went through three people before being accepted.

ETA.  #5 had an RC too vague for my liking so I declined and now I'm on to #6.
