This may be my favorite of the crazy Pickwick family books and although it's nice to have a relationship with some of the characters by reading the previous 2 books first, readers will be fine without them. I won't spoil it for you, but Bridget does learn a thing or two about loss, love, and family. I couldn't put this book down and hope another Tamara Leigh book is on it's way soon!
Green. That is what means the most to tree-hugging Bridget Pickwick Buchanan. After losing the love of her life and husband several years ago, Bridget at the young age of 33, has withdrawn into her self and won't even say the words "Happily Ever After" (HEA). There is no such thing. It's a myth. Well, at least for her it is.
So she sinks all her time and devotion into their family estate and her garden center. It must be sold, but Bridget is determined not to let just any ol' developer buy it. No, she wants someone who is "green", dedicated to preserving the land and giving back.
So, she straightens her dreads and dons the high heels, hoping to impress the uppity but high energy eco-friendly developer, J.C. Dirk. She barges into his office in Atlanta and what follows is a story that will have you laughing until tears stream down your face.
Or at least it did me.
I must admit, when I first started this book, I wasn't very fond of the first chapter. I had a hard time relating to Bridget, even though I'm a greenie myself, without the dreads of course. :) However, once I read past that first chapter and I started understanding what made her tick, I was too engrossed in the story to put it down.
I loved the way the author weaved the eco-friendly ideas in with the plot. It was engaging, funny and had just enough tension, (okay a lot of tension) and romance to keep me glued to the chair.
I got this book from Multnomah Publishers in exchange for my honest review. (thanks, y'all!) I chose this book because of my own personal connection with healing the land and environment and living responsibility as every good Christian should.
Don't worry though, it's not preachy - neither on the relationship with Jesus nor on the environmental front. It has just enough of both to make it a great story.

Restless in Carolina by Tamera Leigh- book review
Bridget is in the middle of the Pickwick family and all their issues, including her own: ridding herself of her widows weeds. It has been 4 years since her husbands accidental death and her family is pressuring her to move on. But is she ready? And with other family members getting married and having babies, she cant get away from it.
Now she is the champion for Uncle Obes project to sell the family estate, but she wants to preserve it in its natural state as much as possible. No track homes or industrial park if she has anything to say about it. And now the challenge begins, who will buy the property and how will it be developed?
As Bridget interacts with the developers interested in the property she also discovers much about herself and begins to rid herself of her widows weeds.
Great story of families working together toward a common goal and the conflicts involved. A modern coming back to God story with a happily ever after ending.
