Second in the McKettrick's Men series. But, every bit as good as the first (Luck). This is Rance's story about his second chance for romance and happiness. He's every bit as charming as Jesse (Luck), but more intense and driven than Jesse. It makes his relationship with Echo full of sparks and surprises.

This is the first I've read of this author's writtings but now I'll be looking for more. It is a nice little romance (not my favorite genre) The second in the series which is still easy to follow without reading the first. Cute characters, nice plot, nothing over the top. One of the main characters has a book shop so I thought that was really cute to read about since PBS is like my bookshop.

I love the McKettrick series, but McKettrick's Pride is one of my favorites, because of the interesting characters and the "guy-type" affection between the male family members.
Rance McKettrick is one of several family members who move back to the family ranch to pick up the pieces of a crumbling previous lifestyle. (Ah, if we all had such a ranch to fall back on when times get hard!)
But in this case, Rance has to make a home and become both father and mother to two young daughters, a task he feels unprepared for.
Complicating his life but delighting his daughters, quirky Echo Wells is also facing challenges as she moves to the McKettricks' small hometown to start a bookstore and a new life.
Bouncing into town in her Pepto-Bismol-colored Volkswqon Bug in a rainstorm, and immediately adopted by a wet bedraggled dog she can't bear to kick out, Echo tries to fit into the town, making us laugh with her naive but uplifting spirit as she faces her challenges with patience and humor.
But meanwhile, back at the ranch.....

The is the second book of the McKettrick Men series. The modern day tale of the descendants of the Triple M Ranch introduced in the (historical) McKettrick Cowboy series. The first and third McKettrick Men books are 'McKettrick's Luck' & "McKettrick's Heart'.

The second book in the McKettrick Men Series. Another great book by Ms Miller. Her characters are flawed but lovable. Five years after the death of his wife, Rance is still torn over his guilt regarding his marriage and he really does not want to try love again. Echo has loved and been hurt and she is not sure she ever wants to try love again - fear of being hurt again keeps her from even thinking of the possibility of love. Then fate, a dog, Rance's family and a love spell bring Echo and Rance together. A wonderful story that shows the power that love can be in helping to heal wounded hearts.

I think what made the book for me was Echo and Cora. Both of them had so much strength and honnesty. I think Echo was a little bit sweeter than Cora but the two mirrored each other quite a bit.

Reading about Rance from the other books, I never did like him but he did redeemed himself nicely. I can understand his need to bury himself in work and neglecting his daughters after the death of his wife. He was slow to learn his lessons in life. I love the dynamics between Rance and Echo from the very first scene together. Without Echo, I wouldn't like Rance as much.

Good, quick read with some touching parts.

Loved the book!

Second in the exciting new McKettrick men series
(The first book in the series is McKettrick's Luck & the third book is McKettrick's Heart)

From the back cover:

A new generation of McKettrick men stake claim to their land-and the women they love...

The only wide-open space Rance McKettrick wants to see in his future is his hometown in his rearview mirror.
The down-to-earth ex-rancher is determined to make a fresh start with his two young daughters-and leave his heartbreaking loss and family's successful corporation far behind.
He sure doesn't need Indian Rock's free-spirited new bookstore owner Echo Wells confusing his choices...and raising memories he'd rather forget. But her straightforward honesty and reluctunce to trust is challenging everything Rance thought he knew about himself. And when their irresistible attraction puts their hearts on the line, Rance and Echo must come to grips with who they really are to find a once-in-a-lifetime happiness.

He burries himself in his job with McKettrickCo leaving the country and two young daughters jetting off on business every time the memories get too painful.

You should read all 20 of these books as one continuous novel -- I think you would miss out on a lot if you read them out of order.

This book is very Maturin centric, not a lot of Aubrey's heroics, but a lot of his naivete.

I felt the story line was sort of a mishmash of things. All written well, but all sort of inconclusive and not motivating.

Still a good book, just not as good as some of the others.
