Is there anyway to report this and have it removed?  I'm reading books reviews and the last review gives the end of the book away!!!  URG!!!

Marie--

You could try writing to the review's poster and ask her to change it (she's even included her email addy in her profile).  If that fails, you could report it to PBS using the "Contact Us" link and let them know about it.

Cheers,

Catt

If enough people give it a thumbs down it should disappear (I don't know what "enough" is). I went it and hit it with a thumbs down, maybe this thread will give it enough traffic to get rid of it.

If you really want it removed, you could politely PM the reviewer and ask them to remove the spoiler.

I'll go give it a thumbs down for you.

This is why I avoid reviews.  I've had whole series ruined for me because people not only give away that book but spoil the rest of the series.

I sent her a PM and gave it a thumbs down, as well.  Hopefully it is fixed, soon!

I must not be reading things right because I can't tell which one is the offender.  Otherwise, I'd give it a thumbs down, too.  Maybe they've already fixed it??

Read the last review on the page, Ruth...the last sentence. I know it's hard to tell with all that "texting" abbreviation crap in there, but the spoiler really is there. LOL

Spoilers like this is just one reason why I don't read reviews. A lot of people just don't know how to give their opinion without giving away too many details. Other people just copy what's on the back cover, and still others will say "great book!" Soooo helpful....so helpful in fact, I'm not gonna bother anymore.

I'm not sure though, how much power we can and should have over other people's reviews. I've had people give me negative comments and "thumbs down" about a review simply because it was one of their favorite authors and they disagreed with my opinion. WTF? A review is supposed to be our own opinion! Why would I say anything other than what I really think?

Thanks, Cheryl, I finally saw it after you explained it to me.  I don't read that many reviews.  And I skip ones that use short-hand type writing.  But I gave it a thumbs down!

What a bummer. I tend to stay away from reviews now because of this. I gave it a thumbs down.

Has anyone ever had any success in getting TPTB at PBS to remove spoiler reviews?   We can give it all the thumbs down we want, but that doesn't delete the review.    Hopefully it at least gets the spoiler review off of the main page - so that you have to hit "More Reviews" in order to see it.   But if there are only a small amount of reviews - as is the case for this book - it only bumps the spoiler review to the bottom of the page.

LOL, ladies, I must be paranoid.  I posted my first real review yesterday (the first review I posted was just a description from the back of the book before I figured out how to add this information properly) & when I saw the subject I just KNEW it was my review. You guys gave me a heart attack!  It was a lot tougher to write a review than I ever imagined for exactly that reason; how much plot do you reveal and when does it become spoiler(ish)?  I finally decided that using whatever info was already revealed in the book blurb or within the first few chapters was probably safe.

Anyone will to read the review & let me know if it crosses any lines? It's for Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost, so if you're sensitive to spoilers, don't read it if you have this TBR until I confirm that it's safe.   :)

Thanks guys.  I sent a PM as well... no response!  Oh well!  Guess it'll teach me to read the reviews....I'll just scan them for those I 'know'!  lol!

Add me to the list of thumbs down.  To me, the best review is one that gives me a brief description of what the book is about and what the reader thought of it.   Just short and sweet and definitely without any spoilers.

I don't know, I've never tried. I thought for awhile there they were only removing "inappropriate" reviews--like reviews that listed a specific copy of the book's condition and stuff like that. I didn't realize they were deleting for content, ever--unless there was profanity or something.

Apparently the two thumbs ups trump all the thumbs downs that have been given. :-\  Argh, I hate spoilers! Spoilers in tags are one of my pet peeves.

Isn't there someone who "cleans up reviews"?   A volunteer who sometimes comes in and asks people to go look and whatever it is she asks??

She might be the person who has the answers to this question.  Does anyone know who I'm talking about?

The review clean up thread is just pointing out reviews that need a lot of thumbs down viewings to get them off the 1st page.  But this book only had 3 revies. So that spoiler review will be there until some more reviews are written and given lots of thumbs up.  The Thumbs ups push reviews higher and the thumbs down pushes them lower. But I don't think it pushes them off the page if there's no other review to replace it. I could be wrong it could just be some magic # of thumbs downs.
