Just had to share with you all how I am absolutely ADORING the snow queen cycle... I read it years ago in college for a women in scifi class and never read the rest in the series.  I absolutely FLEW through World's End and am happily moving on to Summer Queen.  It is officially my new favorite Sci Fi Series.  Anyone out there read it?  What do you think?  Recommendations for similar stuff when I'm done?

It's a great series. On my TBR stack I have another one set in the same world, I think it's Tangled Up in Blue.

Since the name is on my mind have you ever read Vernor Vinge's "A Fire Upon the Deep"? Wow, a wonderful SF book.

I have read and enjoyed Joan Vinge's Snow Queen trilogy. I found her to be a excellent writer, perhaps a bit 'gritty', but interesting none the less. I would pick this series over the ' Ring' (Tolkien?) series any day. But that's just me ;-)

Another Joan Vinge fan here.  I adore just about everything she has written.  I recommend trying to get a hold of her short story collections - Phoenix in Ashes and Amber Eyes.  She is one of the best writers at the novella length.

One thing I like about her series is that each book in the series is different.  She isn't just rewriting the same book.

Lovely to hear from another Joan Vinge fan. Have you  read her Alien Blood (Psion & Catspaw) or The Witling? Liked both of those and might have to get one out to re-read while I am waiting for a new book to catch my interest.

I loved the Snow Queen books.  I reread them a year or two ago and was struck by how well written and well plotted they were.
