This is a rambling storyteller's tale of Jim Northup's life as a member of the Anishinaabeg tribe living on the Fond du Lac reservation of Minnesota. He comments with charm and candor about being an American, being a Native American, being a Vietnam vet, and the sometimes chaotic intersection of those roles. His sense of humor and keen observations on life make this book both insightful and entertaining.
