I requested a cookbook on here specifically because it said it was ring bound so it would be easier to take the recipe out to cook and go shopping with. It came as a regular bound book, should I say anything? Thanks!

Jennifer, is the ISBN on the book you received the same as the one you ordered? The ISBN, title, and author must match exactly to be listed. If these are all correct then the sender did nothing wrong. There may be a problem with the listing or maybe both types of bindings have the same ISBN.

If the title, author, or ISBN aredifferent from the book that you ordered, then the sender mis-posted it and you can RWAP it and ask for your credit back.

THe binding is also supposed to match.  Even the PBS listing was wrong and the book never came in a spiral about edition-the book should have been posted without an ISBN.  '

Author, Title, ISBN and BINDING have to match.

Hi Mary, can you please post the PBS guidelines that require binding to match. I checked the help documents and cannot find that, only that title, author, and ISBN must match. If binding is also a requirement, then I need to be aware of that. Thanks!

Mary, I think I just found it. PBS calls it booktype.

Confirm that your book matches the information in the Book Listing Preview

  • You will see the text below the Book Listing Preview:

This is how your book listing will appear in the PBS library.

Do the Title, Author, ISBN and Book Type match your book EXACTLY?

Please note: book cover image shown does NOT need to match your book.

Thanks for your help, I figured it must be something with the ISBN info not being correct on here. Just figured you would be required to make sure everything was correct in the listing.

Actually I just saw that it says book type as well. I tried listing it with the ISBN and it asks if this is the book you are listing and if not, it has a hard cover version you can pick. But the hard cover listed is a different ISBN.

Does "ring-bound" mean 3 ring binder so that the pages are removeable? Or is it a sprial or flexible binding?

It is supposed to be 3 ring with loose leaf.

Book type means the binding. If the binding doesn't match then you have to post without an ISBN. YOu cannot pick the right binding from the list it brings up.  Binding, ISBN, Title and Author have to match.  So if your ISBN brings up hardcover and you have a paperback and you send the book out anyway-be prepared to have a complaint against you and refund the credit.

It's very rare that PBS will change the binding on a book listing.  They will only change it if no one has it on WL, no one has the book posted and it can be proven that it never existed in the binding PBS has listed.
