A great horror story, I plan to look for more stories by this author.
Nothing much happens in the small town of Anderson but, things are about to change. Day One; Madge Duffy kills her abusive husband by slitting his throat ear to ear. A local sheriffs deputy dies at the hands of an enraged teenager. Day two; John Duffy walks out of the morgue without a scratch on him and goes home to his wife. Deputy Haws walks into the restuarant bright and early, and greets the boyu who killed him. And a dark figure waits patiently for his time to come.

Evil spirits unleashed on a small town which is gradually taken over by the equivalent of "pod" people. The stuff of nightmares.

It took a few chapters for me to get into it, but once I did, I found it to be a fresh take on the usual zombie fare and the suspense builds up to a great nail biting climax. In this story, the dead come back to life, but not as the usual brain-sucking ghouls, outwardly they are quite normal looking & appear to be the same as when they were alive. At first, the townspeople think they are the recipients of a miracle from God - but when it happens over & over again, a handful of people start thinking that something more diabolical is at work and try to find out the truth before they too fall victim to this sp-called miracle.

It kind of reminded me a little of the sci-fi movie Invasion of the Body Snatchers - and I look forward to reading more from this auther.
