I thought this was a wonderful followup to "On a Highland Shore". I actually would love to see this family of characters be put into a longer series of books. Kathleen Givens has quickly become one of my favorite authors.

Kathleen Givens has expanded the story of the McGannon family into the time of William Wallace and Edward Longshanks (of Braveheart fame). It is written with her usual attention to detail and her love of the Scottish Highlands.

However, I found this installment difficult to digest as it always seemed as if our heroes were on horseback running from one place to another. I found that it was so plot driven after the introduction of Rachel, that I did not finish the book. This is very unusual for me and especially unusual with a favorite author.

Perhaps I will come back to the story in a few years and enjoy it then. When that happens, I will put it back on my wishlist. Until then, I hope you enjoy!
