I really wanted to like this book, and it sounded like it would be intriguing, mysterious and sexy. It wasn't. It was plodding and predictable, with no surprises, and a "romance" that seemed especially fake. Waste of time.
I have read all the Amanda Quick novels and I have to say that I love her Victorian era heroines. This book was no exception, very fun and entertaining read.
Really great story - I enjoyed the intrigue of it very much!!
I really liked this story. One of my favorites so far. The storyline was fast paced and kept you turning the pages. A great Quick read.
A very quick read. A great vacation or snowy day book.
I really enjoyed this storyline and the fast pace it had. The characters were well developed and interesting. A great Quick read.
Louisa Bryce, a wallflower who is also a scandal-sheet writer in secret, is investigating blue blood Alwin Hastings, suspected of owning a notorious brothel. Handsome, rich Anthony Stalbridge is also probing Hastingss well-disguised private life. He believes Hastings was responsible for the suicide of his fiance. Fairly predictable plot but enjoyable characters.
All I can say is this book was thrilling Louisa is murderess in hiding and Anthony is on revenge/seekign truth about his fiance. Great passion, storyline and overall a good book.
Delightful..quirky..witty..A could not put down read!!
Another intriguing book by Amanda Quick. I really enjoy the setting of her books and enjoyed this story.
The newest Amanda Quick. Just as much fun to read as the others. Shiny new.
It was a very good book it kept you going without dragging it out.
The first kiss occureed in a dimly lit hallway on the upper floor of Elwin Hastings's grand house. Louisa Bryce never saw it comming. Of course, handsome, wealthy Anthony Stalbridge couldn't possibly have had romantic intentions. The kiss was merely meant to distract the armed guard about to catch the two unlikely sleuths. After all, the only thing these two interlopers have in common is a passionate interest in uncovering the dastardly secrets of Mr. Hastings-a prominent member of Society whom they suspect of murder.
Brought together by their desire for the truth, Anthony and Louisa finally discover the incriminating evidence they're looking for. but bringing Hastings to justice will be more perilous than they anticipate, especially since their thrilling attraction to danger-and, it turns out, to each other-might very well get in the way...
