I'm seriously considering the Wheel of Time series. I'm unsure if the time I'll have to invest is worth it, though. I've heard the later books in the series are rather pointless and do little to progress the story. How are they?

I would say that it's worth reading. The trouble with the later books is that Robert Jordan was addicted to developing characters and his editors must have been too scared of him to rein him in, or something! Some minor character will sneeze on page 50 and then by page 400 you've spent the last fifty pages with said minor character doing something, all the time desperate to know what's going on back where all the main action is.

The first books were stunningly good. My favourite fantasy series ever. And I really like Brandon Sanderson's writing, so hopefully book 12 will be worth the wait.

darn!  looks like I'm too late to take you up on this offer.

Does anyone else have multiple WOT books on their book shelves?  I'm looking for books 7-11.

TIA

Sounds like I'll be investing in the series then.

I have read his entire series so far, and it's amazing. The only negative comments he usually gets is that he tends to use a lot of description, so that drags his books out. But i love that! In fact I've kind of adopted his style of writing. And Aud, I think I sent you a PM about having Winter's Heart!
